Living the Seacoast Lifestyle

Living the Seacoast lifestyle is synonymous with friendly people and quality of life. We have a healthy balance of multigenerational locals and newer residents from all over the world. Many people from the northeast and other parts of the country have relocated or purchased second homes here. A growing number of entrepreneurs and people who work from home have chosen to live in the Seacoast area because if they can live anywhere, it might as well be here, near the Atlantic Ocean and its abundance of tidal rivers, bays, marshes and wetlands.

But Seacoast is more than a geographic description. It's a unique way of life. The Seacoast lifestyle means fishing for striped bass off the dock at New Castle’s Great Island Common and enjoying casual outdoor clam bakes, but it also means savoring a baked stuffed lobster dinner and fine wine at an intimate waterfront restaurant. We like to spend time enjoying our beautiful corner of the world with pursuits such as kayaking the shores of scenic Great Bay, running along the New Castle Loop and sailing from Wentworth by the Sea Marina to The Isles of Shoals.

We take pride in our rich history, which is so much a part of the character of our community today.  Sea captains and pirates, military heroes and villains, town and country are all a part of our heritage, making for an exciting diversity that continues to this day.  A progressive business climate, superior education system, safe and comfortable residential neighborhoods, and a sophisticated cultural environment rarely found in communities of our size all contribute to the unique vitality of the area.

People in the Seacoast take time to play golf and tennis at a variety of exceptional clubs, such as Abenaqui Country Club, in the warmer months and head north for some of New England’s best skiing in the winter. There is so much to do!  We attend the many festivals celebrating everything from seafood to art to different nationalities, visit local art galleries and artists’ studios, and indulge in delightful meals at Portsmouth’s celebrated restaurants. We love relaxing on our local beaches almost as much as we love looking at our stunning variety of houses and gardens, and so, apparently do the flocks of visitors who come here every year. The Seacoast lifestyle is what regularly lands our community on various “best places to live” lists - visit the Seacoast Quality of Life section of my blog for more details. The Seacoast offers the benefits of small town life within easy reach of sophisticated cities such as Boston and New York City. And that's the way we like it.

From unspoiled beaches, lush wetlands and peaceful woods to lively nightlife and from oceanfront resorts to shopping boutiques, the Seacoast offers a myriad of recreational activities in a setting of timeless beauty. So take your time. We're not going anywhere. But maybe you should be. And if you're already here, but you're not yet living the Seacoast lifestyle…what are you waiting for?
